Friday night. 1987.
Word gets out before the sun goes down.
No parents. No plan. Just a house, a crowd, and a Magnavox D8443 sitting dead center in the living room.
It starts small.
A few people. Then more. Someone brings tapes. Someone reaches over, adjusts the bass, backs off the treble, and suddenly the whole place feels heavier.
Doors stay open. Lights stay low. Nobody’s checking the time.
By ten, the house is full.
Music pushing through the walls. People in every room. The kind of night where nobody knows everyone—but it doesn’t matter.
Everything runs through the D8443.
At some point, someone switches it over.
Not to radio.
Not to tape.
Just lets something else come through.
The music doesn’t stop.
It just… shifts.
Deeper. Cleaner. Locked in.
And nobody questions it.
By morning, the place is wrecked.
People gone. Doors still open. Silence where there shouldn’t be any.
Except one thing.
The D8443.
Still on. Still playing.
They say it doesn’t take much to bring it back.
Just a room. A few people.
And something worth turning up.
